Foundations was originally started as the Wicket Gate Ministries Podcast on July 14th, 2008.
It was very primitive in the beginning. The program ran 5 days a week using some of the worst
recording equipment on the planet. Despite the initial poor audio quality, the program grew in
listenership and the equipment was finally upgraded. All was going well until a fateful night just
before Thanksgiving weekend when a robbery put the program off the air for almost three
months.

On February 10th, 2009, the program relaunched with a new name, Foundational Truth, and a
new, sharper focus. The listening audience continued to grow until February 2010 when the
name was shortened to Foundations. This coincided with the addition of the first radio affiliates
for a weekly version of the program, first heard February 14th of that year.

The programs topics vary from day to day and week to week, but there is a binding element.
Everything discussed and every guest has a direct impact of the Body of Christ and filtered
through the lense of the Word of God.. The advantage of the format, being outside the four
walls of the church, is that anything can be tackled in an open and direct manner. With cultural
issues, that is absolutely crucial to face head on the problems and challenges facing the church
of Jesus Christ today. The only area not handled is politics, although social commentary is
frequent.

It's not always serious on Foundations. The host has been a stand-up comic and comedic
actor and may at times perform a bit of comedy for a program or two. There may even be a
guest or two from the Christian arts community, including music, theater, and comedy.

When it comes right down to it, the whole point of Foundations is to glorify the Name Above
All Names, Christ Jesus, in a creative and Biblical manner. It really is all about Jesus.
